Updating Outlook / Outlook Express   configuration to access mail.ateneo.edu

NOTE: Due to various versions of these programs in use, the steps here may not exactly apply to your version. Please consult the help system of your specific program for further guidance.

  1. From the menu bar at the top of the Outlook window, click on Tools. From the drop-down menu, select Accounts.
  2. The Internet Accounts window will open. Select the Mail tab and select the mail.ateneo.edu account profile you want to update. Click the Properties button on the right side.


  3. The selected mail account's Properties window will open. Select the Servers tab.


    Verify and correct if necessary the following fields:
    • Incoming mail (POP3) = mail.ateneo.edu
    • Outgoing mail (SMTP) = mail.ateneo.edu
    • Account name = your assigned user name
    • My server requires authentication = checked
  4. Select the Advanced tab.


  5. In the Server port numbers section, verify and correct if necessary the following fields:
    • Outgoing mail (SMTP) = 587
    • This server requires a secure connection (SSL) = checked
    • Incoming mail (POP3) = 995
    • This server requires a secure connection (SSL) = checked
  6. In the Delivery section, choose whether to leave your mail on the server or not. If you choose to leave your mail, it is recommended to check the box for Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'.
  7. Click OK to close the account Properties window.
  8. Click Close to exit the Internet Accounts window.
  9. Your Outlook configuration has now been checked and updated.
