Step 1. Configure the Wireless Network Card

  1. Click Start, select Control Panel

  2. Click Network and Internet Connections

  3. Click Network Connections

  4. Right click on the Wireless Network Connection icon and select Properties. The Wireless Network Connection Properties window opens.

  1. Click the Wireless Networks tab

  2. Click the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings check box

  3. Under Preferred networks, click Add. The Wireless Network Properties window opens.

  1. Type LSWLAN1 in the Network Name (SSID) field
  2. Deselect the The key is provided for me automatically check box

  3. Click Data encryption (WEP enabled). Type in the WEP key in the Network key field.
    NOTE: The WEP key is in hexadecimal format

  4. Proceed to #14 if the Wireless Network Properties window is different from the screenshot above.
  5. Select Hexadecimal Digits from the Key format list
  6. Select 40 bits (5 characters) from the Key length list
  7. Make sure the following are also deselected:
    • Network Authentication (Shared mode) check box
    • This is a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network check box
  8. Click OK


Step 2. Configure TCP/IP Settings

  1. Click Start, select Control Panel
  2. Click Network and Internet Connections

  3. Click Network Connections

  4. Right click on the Wireless Network Connection icon and select Properties. The Wireless Network Connection Properties window opens.

  1. Click the General tab
  2. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.

  3. The Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window opens.

  1. Click Obtain an IP address automatically

  2. Click Obtain DNS server address automatically
  3. Click OK


Step 3. Configure Internet Explorer

  1. Launch the Internet Explorer browser
  2. Click Tools
  3. Click Internet Options

  4. Click the Connections tab

  5. Click LAN Settings. The Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window opens.

  1. Click the Use automatic configuration script check box.

  2. In the Address field type:
    http://sisig.ateneo.net/browser.pac

  3. Deselect the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box
  4. Deselect the Automatically detect settings check box
  5. Click OK
