Web Browser Configuration for Surfing

Internet Explorer (v.5 and above)

1. Open Internet Explorer on your computer.
2. Click Tools on the top menu bar. A drop-down menu will appear.
3. Click on Internet Options. The Internet Properties window will open.
4. Select the Connections tab. Then click on the LAN Settings button near the bottom.
5. The Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window will open.
6. Check the box for Use automatic configuration script. Then enter:
   http://sisig.ateneo.net/browser.pac
   for the Address field. Make sure all other check boxes are unchecked.
7. Click OK to close the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window.
8. Click OK to close the Internet Options window.
9. You're done.

For Added Security

If you are sharing your computer with another person, the following steps are recommended in order to prevent the other person from getting into your web-based accounts and getting other sensitive personal information.

1. Follow steps 1 to 3 above.
2. Select the Content tab. Then click on the AutoComplete button in the Personal information section in the bottom half of the window.
3. The AutoComplete Settings window will open.
4. Ensure that the boxes for Forms and User names and passwords on forms are NOT checked.
5. If the boxes above were previously checked, click on the Clear Forms and Clear Passwords buttons.
6. Click OK to close the AutoComplete Settings window.
7. Click OK to close the Internet Properties window.
